(NewsNation) — Lara Trump says that mic muting in the presidential debate is an attempt to stop former President Donald Trump’s one-liners.
Lara Trump, a co-chair of the Republican National Committee and Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, said that the first 2024 presidential debate is “obviously” set up to help President Joe Biden.
“I think that this is an attempt to prevent Donald Trump from doing what he does best, which is those quick little one-liners,” Lara Trump said Thursday on “Debate Night with Chris Cuomo.”
The rules for the debate included muting the microphone of one candidate while the other is speaking, no help from aides and no pre-written notes.
Lara Trump expressed confidence that Donald Trump would do very well in this debate against Biden.
“The bar has been made so low for Biden that if he walks out on stage and basically is upright for the entirety of the debate, a lot of people are going to be, like, ‘Look, Joe Biden can do it,’” Lara Trump said.
