Stephen A. Smith: O’Reilly detached from reality on race comments

by

(NewsNation) — Stephen A. Smith said Bill O’Reilly’s claim that “skin color doesn’t have anything to do with politics” is “detached from reality.”

“I feel sorry for Bill O’Reilly,” Smith said Monday night on NewsNation’s “CUOMO.” “As brilliant as he has been, he’s a bit detached from reality.”

O’Reilly previously slammed ABC News’ Rachel Scott and former President Trump for how they handled a panel interview during the National Association of Black Journalists convention.

O’Reilly on VP selection: Harris did what Trump did

At one point in the interview, Trump questioned Harris’ racial identity and falsely claimed that she only promoted her Indian heritage in the past. Harris is both Black and of Indian descent. O’Reilly said that anyone “who injects skin color into any conversation these days in a negative way, is a fool, period.”

“You’re foolish. Skin doesn’t have anything to do with politics, with the way we live, and who we are as Americans,” he added.

Smith went on to say that O’Reilly is “detached from the iniquities that Black folks and minorities of this country have suffered for decades.”

“You’re not living in our world,” Smith said. “I am not disrespecting him. But he is clearly off his rocker with those comments. The nerve of him to do that.”
