What issues will draw Gen Z voters to the polls?

(NewsNation) — Gen Z may have a “tremendous” influence on the outcome of the 2024 election, according to new research from Tufts University.

Nearly 40 million members of Gen Z are eligible to vote in the upcoming election, and eight million of them are first-time voters.

Sohali Vaddula, director of communications for College Democrats of America, and Will Donahue, president of College Republicans for America, joined NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo to discuss the key issues they believe will drive Gen Z voters to the polls in November.

“I think Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party represent the value of young Americans,” Vaddula said on “CUOMO.” “We care more about democracy than simply the issues. It’s about the values of what the administration will represent.”

Donahue believes young people sometimes tend to be overly “utopian” in their views, prioritizing handing out cash and welcoming everyone across borders without considering potential consequences.

“Gen Z students are loving and want to help people, so they tend liberal. But then they get out into the market, and they can’t afford a home,” Donahue said.
