Trump to appear at E. Jean Carroll hearing: Sources

(NewsNation) — Former President Donald Trump will be in a New York City courtroom Friday to hear oral arguments in his appeal of the decision holding him liable for sexually abusing columnist E. Jean Carroll, two sources have told NewsNation.

A jury found Trump liable in the case in May of last year, and the panel awarded Carroll a total of $83.3 million. At the time, Trump called the ruling “a disgrace” and vowed to appeal. In April, the judge rejected Trump’s bid for a new trial.

It’s not the only legal proceeding involving Trump in New York on Friday. Judge Juan Merchan has told the prosecution and defense that he will announce his decision whether to delay the sentencing in Trump’s criminal hush money conviction.

Trump is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 18 on the 34 counts of falsifying business records linked to payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

The Trump campaign also announced that Trump will hold a news conference Friday at Trump Tower in Manhattan.
