HONOLULU (KHON2) — The suspect accused of trying to shoot former President Donald Trump lives in Kaaawa. Neighbors who know him said they were stunned that he could be involved in something like this.
“Like he went over to do that? Really? Wow that’s hard to believe,” said Easto Trinin, Kaawa resident.
“Brah this is unbelievable,” said David Stant, Kaaawa resident. “It’s like one of those movie type of deals. It’s a small community, real family-oriented. He’s a real nice guy. Him and the girlfriend get along, well most of the time great. It’s amazing.”

Neighbors said Ryan Routh lived in the house for several years now and didn’t talk politics, but the home did show his allegiances — the American flag near the door and the Biden-Harris sticker on the truck bed.
“He hasn’t talked too much about politics,” said Stant. “I mean they did have a Biden sign in front of the house, but other than that, no not really.”
“No we just talked about surfing,” said Trinin. “Yeah. That’s it. We just go surf all the time.”
“We spoke to several neighbors and they all pretty much described him the same way — a nice guy, quiet guy, great carpenter who actually renovated most of his house. Even offered to help anyone who needed it.

Neighbors said he even traveled to Ukraine to help in the conflict there.
