Harrison Ford endorses Harris for president

by

Actor Harrison Ford announced his endorsement of Vice President Harris in the 2024 White House race three days before Election Day.

Ford shared that he would be voting for the Democratic nominee in a video recorded for the Harris-Walz campaign. In them, he praised the Democratic ticket for believing in the “rule of law” while slamming former President Trump for “embracing dictators and tyrants around the world.”

The “Indiana Jones” star referenced former Trump administration officials who have spoken out against the GOP nominee in the video posted Saturday and added that Harris will protect the people’s “right to disagree with her about policies or ideas.”

“You have to pay attention,” Ford said. “They’re telling us something important. These aren’t soft people. They’re governors, generals standing up against the leader of the party. They spent their lives advocating for many of them. This will be the first time they’ve ever voted for someone who doesn’t have an R next to their name, because they know this really matters.”

“The other guy [Trump], he demands unquestioning loyalty, says he wants revenge,” Ford says in the video. “I’m Harrison Ford. I’ve got one vote, same as anyone else, and I’m going to use it to move forward. I’m going to vote for, Kamala Harris.”

Ford joins a group of other celebrities, artists and Hollywood stars that have endorsed the Democratic nominee, including Taylor Swift, Leonardo DiCaprio, Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Clooney, and others. Some have appeared with Harris on the campaign trail.

Ford, in another video that was released by Rolling Stone on Saturday, emphasized that he does not agree with every policy position the Democratic ticket holds, but said they would govern, if elected, for all Americans.

“But these two people believe in the rule of law,” the actor says in the video. “They believe in science. They believe that when you govern, you do so for all Americans, they believe that we are in this together. These are ideas I believe in. These are people I can get behind.”

The actor, who endorsed President Biden in 2020, said he is displeased by “a lot of things” in the U.S., but emphasized that the country needs to “work together again.”

“Look, I’m frustrated about a lot of things in this country,” he said. “I’m sure you are too. But the other guy, he spent four years turning us against each other while embracing dictators and tyrants around the world. That’s not who we are. We don’t need to make America great again. Come on. We are great, but we need is to work together again. All we need is a president who works for all of us, and again.”

The Hill has reached out to the Harris campaign and the Trump campaign’s spokesperson for comment.
