SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — According to a post from the Tropical Liqueurs Facebook page, “Trops” is closed.
“Springfield has been good to us,” said owner John Russell. “Business just hasn’t picked up since COVID.”
Known for their frozen cocktails in an assortment of flavors, Trops has been in business in Springfield for 20 years located at 420 S Campbell Avenue.
Trops first began in downtown Columbia, Missouri in 1985. The Springfield location was the third bar opened by the company in 2004. Currently, there are still two locations in Columbia and one in St. Louis.
The last day of business was last Sunday, Jan. 12. according to Russell.
“The fact that we’ve been able to handle [the bar] for almost 40 years, 20 years in Springfield, has been a miracle,” said Russell.
