Will Melania Trump and Barron live at the White House?

by

(NewsNation) — President-elect Donald Trump is returning to the White House on Monday as the second president to serve two nonconsecutive terms.

Trump has not said he will live anywhere but the White House. Seven presidents have resided elsewhere during their administrations for varying periods, most of which occurred due to renovations.

Where will Melania live during Trump’s presidency?

Trump’s wife, Melania, and teenage son, Barron, are expected to stay at the White House in varied capacities, with the latter attending NYU in Manhattan.

Melania told Fox News in a Jan. 13 interview that she will split her time between Washington, D.C., New York and Florida.

“I will be in the White House. And when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York,” Melania said. “When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. My first priority is to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife.”

Melania explained that returning to the White House would be far easier than the move to D.C. during Trump’s first presidency.

“The first time was challenging. We didn’t have much of the information,” she said. “But this time, I have everything … I already selected the furniture that needs to go in, so it’s a very different transition this time.”

Where will Barron live during Trump’s presidency?

As for Barron, Melania told Fox that he would visit the White House but primarily stay in New York like most NYU students.

“I think he will come and visit,” she said.

President Joe Biden and his family will leave the White House on Monday morning; Melania told Fox they have five hours to move out.

Trump and his family’s belongings will be moved into the White House following the swearing-in ceremony.
