Homan invites Cuomo to witness ICE migrant raids

by

(NewsNation) — Trump border czar Tom Homan invited NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo to witness U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement migrant raids firsthand.

“We’ve got nothing to hide,” Homan said during an appearance Thursday on NewsNation’s “CUOMO.” “We’ll get you out there, Chris.”

Homan expressed hope sanctuary cities will soon cooperate after seeing the agency’s focus.

“I hope the sanctuary cities come around once they see that we really are concentrated on the criminals,” he added. “We hope they’ll sit at the table and work with us.”

What we know about Trump’s mass deportations

So far, there have been 538 arrests and 373 detainers lodged, according to a post on X from ICE.

Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka said in a statement Thursday that ICE “raided” a business in the city and detained “undocumented residents, as well as citizens, without producing a warrant,” ABC News reported.

In a news release, the mayor said one of the detainees was a veteran “who suffered the indignity of having the legitimacy of his military documentation questioned.”

Homan said that he was not informed about this incident and that ICE’s concentration remains public safety threats.

Homan ‘amazed’ sanctuary cities won’t work with ICE

“I don’t care if you’re Republican, a Democrat, or independent,” Homan said.

He emphasized the importance of allowing law enforcement to take action in county jails to address public safety threats.

“Why not arrest the guy that you locked in a jail cell? The public safety threat will solve a lot of this problem,” Homan added.

Additionally, Trump aides have indicated they may arrest others, such as spouses or roommates, who aren’t the primary target but are also in the country illegally. Trump hasn’t provided any specific timeline for the deportation.

On Monday, President Donald Trump signed several executive orders related to immigration, including declaring a national emergency at the border.
