(WHTM) – Crayola is going back to the drawing board with its latest collection: The brand, which marketed its first box of crayons in 1903, is bringing back a special assortment of retired colors for the first time in its 122-year history.
In a press release, Crayola said the decision was prompted by popular demand for the return of certain shades.

“Over the years, the company has received an outpouring of fan requests to bring back some of their retired favorites, especially since Dandelion left the crayon box in 2017,” the release reads. “The decision to unretire these eight colors for a limited time will delight and surprise consumers, increase the brand’s available color palette and give a nod to the company’s first iconic eight crayon box launched in 1903.
In addition to Dandelion, which was retired in 2017, the new collection features Blizzard Blue, Magic Mint, and Mulberry (all retired in 2003) and Orange Red, Violet Blue, Lemon Yellow, and Raw Umber (retired in 1990).
Crayola has retired a total of 13 crayons since the brand was founded, according to the company. The five that didn’t make the cut for its latest collection were blue gray, green blue, maize, orange yellow and teal blue.
The collection — known as the Limited Edition Retired Colors 8-Count Crayon Pack — will be available for a limited time. Limited-edition marker sets, colored pencils and other Crayola activity products will also feature the colors.
