Scott Stringer: I hope Hochul suspends NYC Mayor Eric Adams

by

(NewsNation) — Former New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer told “NewsNation Now” he believes New York City Mayor Eric Adams should be removed from office amid corruption charges and another flurry of internal resignations.

Stringer said Governor Kathy Hochul is “doing the right thing” by holding a series of meetings with top political figures as many call for Adams to resign.

“Seems to me that when four deputy mayors resign, that’s not staff changes, that signals the collapse of the New York City government, and that brings grave consequences,” Stringer said.

“I think there’s no other choice here,” he added.

Stringer, who hopes to unseat Adams in June’s Democratic primary for mayor, believes “we have to resolve this, one way or another.”

Adams faces questions about whether he has lost the ability to independently govern the city in the wake of a Justice Department move to drop his corruption case so that he could better assist in President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.

“We have a mayor that just has no ability to fight back because the consequences of fighting the Trump administration could be the reinstatement of federal charges,” Stringer said. “And that is one of the things that I think Governor Hochul has to weigh.”
