AUSTIN (KXAN) — Apple will grow its Texas presence with a new factory focusing on its Apple Intelligence system, as part of a $500 billion investment over four years, the company announced Monday.
Apple said the Houston factory will focus on building advanced technology and manufacturing servers for the Apple Intelligence system. The AI servers were previously built outside the U.S.

Apple said the 250,000-square-foot facility will open in 2026 and create thousands of jobs. The servers are designed to reduce energy demands from Apple data centers, which use renewable energy.
The company’s four-year investment plans include growing teams and facilities in Michigan, California, Arizona, Nevada, Iowa, Oregon, North Carolina and Washington.
The total $500 billion investment plan is expected to create about 20,000 new jobs, mostly focused on research and development, Apple said.

Plans also include doubling its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund, building a manufacturer academy in Michigan and growing research and development investments, according to Apple.
Apple has a three-million-square-foot campus in northwest Austin with employees in engineering, research and development, operations and customer support roles. The campus was expected to grow to 15,000 employees at full capacity.
