Jan. 6 rioter pardoned by Trump: ‘It’s time to move forward’

by

(NewsNation) —Rachel Powell said it’s “time to move forward” from her regrets for storming the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

She is among about 1,500 protesters President Trump pardoned; she served one year of a five-year sentence at a Washington, D.C., correctional facility before being released.

“Trump keeps his promises,” Powell said on “CUOMO.” “My family can start rebuilding our life again, and we can move forward from Jan. 6 into the future and make America great again.”

Powell, also known as the “Bullhorn Lady,” used a battering ram to break into the Capitol and gave directions through a bullhorn to other rioters.

On Monday, Trump announced that he granted roughly 1,500 “full, complete and unconditional pardons” for rioters charged in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. There have been 1,583 total defendants charged.

The pardons clear the way for potentially hundreds of his supporters to be released from prison in the coming days; some of them were sentenced to years in prison for violently attacking law enforcement that day.
